When one thinks of Finnish Folk metal, one's mind will naturally, and instantly, name Korpiklaani as the go to group. This is with good reason as the band has been around, in one form or another, since 1993. Originally called Shamaani Duo, they have released nine full-length and one live album under the name Korpiklaani alone.
Now, it has been revealed they will be adding to that list with a new full-length album entitled "Kulkija", which translates to wanderer in English. The album is due out September 07th 2018 via Nuclear Blast Records. The beautiful cover art was designed by long time Korpiklaani artist Jan Yrlund.
Jonne Järvelä stated: "We've never been as satisfied with a final result as we are with 'KULKIJA'. We tried to keep it very natural, and that's what you'll soon be able to hear clearly. Like the wanderer, this album is a journey, one that makes you feel good. Stay tuned!"
Sami Perttula agreed with the sentiment: "'KULKIJA' isn't just a collection of songs, it's a "real" album with a unique atmosphere guiding the listeners through a long journey. All songs were well prepared in advance and nothing needed to be arranged in the studio. Tuomas [fiddle] & I had lots of space to develop and play the folk arrangements."
