It's Beginning To Feel a lot Like METAL

In honor of the first snow of the year, I opened the vaults on my winter records. Yes, that's right: I have albums in my collection that only see the light of day this time of year. Not only does it help to keep certain records from becoming stale due to over-exposure, it's the perfect antidote for the incessant Christmas music, of which terrestrial radio has a selection of exactly 17 songs. It's hateful and it's wrong and I have the cure. Enter bands like Wintersun and Sonata Arctica who wait all year, just like Griswold's ball of lights, to get dusted off and find their way into the shuffle. Blame it on their names or my need to completely immerse myself into their music, something I can not do when I'm busy doing "summer stuff," but their records are like my own little present to myself every year. I must love me or hate me very much, I'm not sure which. But you don't have to be weird like me, you can enjoy this killer cover of Metallica's Fade To Black right now or on Memorial Day. Either way, give it a go and let us know what you think in the comments. Rage on! JPR
